Crypto Payment Gateway Fees Compared (2026)

A dated, sourced comparison of what crypto payment gateways charge merchants in 2026, including what each headline fee covers and what it leaves out.

Stacked bar chart comparing processing, network and conversion fees for six gateways

Crypto payment gateway fees for merchants mostly range from about 0.4% to 3% per payment, as of October 2026. The headline rate is only part of the cost. Network fees, conversion fees, payout fees and fixed per-transaction charges can matter as much as the percentage, especially for small payments or if you need fiat in a bank account.

We checked each gateway's official pricing page on 9 October 2026. Every figure below links to its source. Where a vendor does not publish a number, the table says "not published" rather than guessing. Prices change often, so check the source before you sign up. We will refresh this comparison regularly.

One disclosure: Zypher, which publishes this blog, is in the table. Its numbers come from its own pricing page, and we show where competitors are cheaper.

Two notes on gateways often asked about:

  • Coinbase Commerce no longer accepts payments. Per Coinbase's help center, the Commerce portal closed on 31 March 2026. Merchants in the US and Singapore could move to Coinbase Business, and others had to switch providers. A Coinbase Business processing fee was not published on the pages we checked. If you are migrating, see Coinbase Commerce alternatives.

  • PayPal "Pay with Crypto" is for US merchants. At launch in July 2025, the rate was reported as 0.99% for the first year, then 1.5% (SiliconANGLE). We did not find this on an official PayPal pricing page, so confirm the current rate with PayPal.

What each fee includes, and what it leaves out

The same "1%" can mean very different total costs. These are the five things to check.

1. Network fees on incoming payments

Every on-chain transfer pays a blockchain fee. On incoming payments the customer pays it when sending, but some gateways charge the merchant again when they forward or batch funds to you.

  • CoinPayments lists "3% + Network Fee" for its ASAP and Nightly settlement modes: one network fee per payment for ASAP, one per batch for Nightly. Its "To Balance" mode is 3% with funds kept in the CoinPayments wallet.

  • OxaPay publishes a per-network transfer fee table for on-chain transfers. Internal transfers are free.

  • NOWPayments' pricing page refers to network fees separately from its service fee, without listing them.

  • Zypher takes the commission from the received amount, and withdrawals pay the network fee.

2. Withdrawals and payouts

Getting money out of the gateway is where pricing pages differ most.

GatewayWithdrawal / payout cost (published)
ZypherNetwork fee
CoinPaymentsNo CoinPayments withdrawal fee; network fee applies
CoinGateCrypto payouts €0.50 + 0.5%; with conversion €0.50 + 1.5%; crypto and SEPA withdrawals free (€50 minimum); SWIFT 0.5% (€50 minimum fee)
OxaPayPayout fee not listed; on-chain transfers per network fee table
CryptomusTransfers between own wallets free; external withdrawal fee not published on the payment fees page
NOWPaymentsNot published on the pricing page
PlisioNot published on the pricing page
BitPayDaily fiat settlement to a bank account; settlement fee not separately listed on the pricing page

If you withdraw often in small amounts, a fixed fee per payout adds up. If you withdraw rarely, it hardly matters.

3. Conversion

Accepting ten coins but keeping only USDT means converting, and conversion costs vary:

  • Cryptomus says Auto-Convert of incoming payments is free.

  • CoinGate charges a 1% fee on manual conversions on the platform; automatic checkout conversions are excluded from that fee.

  • CoinPayments lists conversions as "Conversion Partner Fee + Network Fee", with no partner fee amount.

  • Zypher can auto-convert each incoming payment, net of commission, into one coin you choose, such as USDT.

A conversion rate also has a spread, which no pricing page shows. Compare the quoted rate against a market price on a test conversion.

4. Fixed per-transaction fees

BitPay adds $0.25 to every payment on every tier. On a $10 payment, that adds 2.5% on top of the percentage. On a $1,000 payment it is negligible. Static-address payments on OxaPay also carry a fixed fee per currency and network. If your average ticket is small (game top-ups, proxies, tips), fixed fees matter more than the percentage.

5. Fiat settlement and paperwork

Some gateways settle to a bank account in fiat. BitPay advertises daily fiat settlement, and CoinGate lists SEPA and SWIFT withdrawals. If you need euros or dollars in a bank, that is a real feature and worth paying for. Expect business verification with fiat-settling providers; CoinGate, for example, requires KYB. Zypher settles in crypto only: you can exchange between the supported coins and withdraw to any external address, but there is no bank settlement.

Worked example: what you would pay per month

Assume an average payment of $50, steady volume, and the standard published rate (no negotiated discount). Only the processing fee and any fixed per-transaction fee are counted; network, conversion and payout costs come on top and depend on how you operate.

Monthly volumeZypherNOWPaymentsCoinPaymentsCryptomus (new)Plisio APICoinGateOxaPay invoiceBitPay
$5,000 (100 payments)$50 (1%)$50$150$100$25$50$75$125
$30,000 (600 payments)$225 (0.75%)$300$900$600$150$300$450$750
$100,000 (2,000 payments)$500 (0.5%)$1,000$3,000$2,000$500$1,000$1,500$2,500

How to read this fairly:

  • Plisio's 0.5% API rate is the lowest published standard rate in this group. It is below Zypher's rate until about $50k a month, when Zypher's tier reaches 0.5%, and Zypher is lower from $250k.

  • Cryptomus, OxaPay and Heleket advertise rates down to 0.4% on request. If you qualify, the $100k row falls to about $400 for them.

  • NOWPayments and CoinGate offer volume discounts that they do not publish in full.

  • BitPay includes daily fiat bank settlement, which the crypto-only gateways do not offer.

  • Zypher's tier is based on the last 30 days of paid volume across all your stores and is recalculated hourly. In your first month you start at 1% and move down as volume builds.

Costs that are not on any pricing page

The customer's side

Your customer pays the network fee to send the payment, and often an exchange withdrawal fee on top. Binance, for example, charges about $1 to withdraw USDT on TRC20. On a $10 order, the customer may see a total cost of 10% or more just to pay you. Offering cheaper networks (BEP20, TON, Solana) for small amounts helps. Our guide to USDT TRC20, BEP20, ERC20, TON and Solana compares them, and why TRC20 fees change explains TRON energy.

Your time

A cheaper gateway that lacks a plugin for your platform can cost more in developer hours than you save in fees. Check plugins, webhook signing and documentation before you compare decimals.

Account and compliance requirements

Requirements for documents differ by provider and change over time. Cryptomus, for example, made KYC mandatory around March 2025, and CoinGate requires business verification. If you are moving because of a policy change, our article on Cryptomus alternatives covers the options. Whatever you choose, follow the rules that apply to your business where you operate.

How to compare gateways for your own volume

  1. Write down three numbers: monthly volume, average payment size, and how often you withdraw.

  2. Calculate the processing fee at the rate you will actually get, not the advertised minimum.

  3. Add fixed fees: per-transaction fees times the number of payments, plus payout fees times the number of withdrawals.

  4. Add conversion, if you need it, including the spread on a test conversion.

  5. Check what is not priced: coins and networks you need, plugins, invoice expiry and underpayment handling, and whether you need fiat settlement.

  6. Run one real low-value payment through your top two choices before you move all your traffic.

Where Zypher fits

Zypher is a reasonable choice if you want automatic volume tiers without negotiating (1% down to 0.25%), no setup or monthly fees, and a single commission taken from the received amount. It works with USDT on five networks, BTC, ETH, Monero and other coins, and has ready plugins. It is not the right choice if you need fiat settled to a bank account. The full fee table is on the pricing page, and an overview is on the crypto payment gateway page.

To check the numbers on your own traffic, open a store. It takes a minute and needs no documents.

FAQ

What is a normal fee for a crypto payment gateway?

As of October 2026, published standard rates range from about 0.5% to 3% per payment, with negotiated rates down to about 0.4% at some providers. Most mainstream gateways charge around 1%. Network, conversion and payout fees come on top at most providers.

Which crypto payment gateway has the lowest fees?

Leaving aside self-hosted BTCPay Server, which has no processing fee, among the published standard rates we checked Plisio's 0.5% Gateway API rate is the lowest for small and mid-sized merchants. At higher volumes, tiered and negotiated rates (Zypher's automatic tiers down to 0.25%, or 0.4% on request at several providers) can be lower. The cheapest option depends on your volume, ticket size and withdrawal pattern.

Do crypto payment gateways charge network fees?

The customer pays the network fee to send a payment. Many gateways also pass on network fees when you withdraw or when they forward funds to your wallet. Check each provider's pricing page for how they treat withdrawals.

Is BTCPay Server really free?

BTCPay Server charges no processing fee because you run it yourself. You still pay for the server, your time to maintain it, and network fees. It is a strong option for technical teams that want full control.

Are there monthly fees for crypto payment gateways?

Most gateways in this comparison charge per payment rather than a monthly subscription. CoinGate states no monthly fees, and Zypher has no setup or monthly fees. Where a provider does not state it, ask before signing up.

How often do crypto gateway fees change?

Fairly often. Introductory rates end, tiers are revised and providers change their terms. Treat any comparison, including this one, as a snapshot and check the vendor's pricing page before you commit.
